.just one of {those} days.

After talking about my weekend with the {bffls},
I began throwing a pity party for myself.
Dwelling on the fact that none of my best friends lived here anymore.
Completely wallowing in my own sorrow.
I don't recommend this.
It's depressing.

I had to get out of the house, so I went to Target.
My happy place.
And then to Old Navy.
So I'm in the dressing room, and {bethany} calls and says she's in town.
I about jumped for joy.
Seems that we both needed some hang out time with a friend yesterday.
And starbucks.  We always need starbucks.
Thanks bethany for making my day.
I love spending time with you.

I got to skype with {this} pretty girl.
The last time I saw her was 6 years ago in Colorado.
SIX years ago??  How did I get this old?
It was lovely getting to see her face.
And I get to see her in person on May 18th!
No I'm not counting down.
Why do you ask?
I cannot wait to serve with her at camp this summer.
Many adventures will be had.
And I'm excited for our friendship to grow.
Love you, beth.

.bieber {fever}.

A week later, I finally decide it's about time to tell y'all about last weekend.
Sorry it's taken me so long, {bffls}.

Last weekend was unbelievably fun.
Time with my best friends, catching up on life, laughter, and Justin Bieber.
Okay now. Stop that judging.
We went to see Justin Bieber's new movie, annnnnnd we loved it.
Pretty sure we were the oldest people in there, besides some parents.
It was the most interactive movie experience I've ever had.
If you were there, yes, we were those college/post college girls dancing and singing in the very back row.  Glad we could offer you some entertainment.

After seeing an entire movie about the Biebs, we still hadn't had enough, so it was time for a {dance party} in the car.  My favorite.  We are so cray cray.

I love these weekends together.
Restful and relaxing.
Big breakfasts on Saturday morning.
{I want some bacon, annnnd some pancakes.}
Sitting in the kitchen talking about life.
Bffls, let's do this more often.
I miss you already & I love each of you so much!

.i made this for you.

You may have heard of this guy.  His name is Julian Smith.
Not ringing a bell?
Let's see if this video triggers your memory.

Okay now you are sure you know who he is, or you know you never had a clue.
Either way, you can check {this one} out too.  It's just some bloopers.
Which are my favorite.
I love watching other people laugh.
Because it makes me laugh too.

Julian Smith was also the guy that made this video.
It changed my life.
Okay. Not really.
But it is pretty amazing!

Cool, right?
There are so many, and I'm not a fan of all, just some.
Alright.  Last one for your afternoon.

I'm not gonna lie. Kinda creepy.
But the bagpipes at the end are so unexpected.
I laughed for a very long time the first time someone showed this to me.

Now go get a life.
{I was talking to myself}

Happy Friday!

.the {far} country.

It's time for free music Wednesday!
Not that I've ever told you about free music on a Wednesday.
But I am today!
And who is the artist, you ask?
The one and only {Andrew Peterson}
You can get his album {the far country} for FREE {here}
I love love love his music.
He is such an amazing story teller.
Not just in his music, but he writes books too!
So go check it out.
Download the album.
You can't pass up free music.
And enjoy this music video from his newest album.

.{You} are hope.

tonight i sat in the middle of a frozen yogurt shop
and cried with my core group girls.
there is so much pain, confusion, hurt and doubt in this world.
this is such a crucial time in their lives as they are molded
into the young women God wants them to be.
struggling with what to believe.
is God really enough?
they hear so many different things in college.
so many different perspectives.
what is right?
it's moments like tonight that i will remember.
these beautiful young women letting down their guard.
tearing down the walls.
being real.
we all need the reminder that God is {everything}
He is constant.
He's not changing no matter someone else's opinion of Him.
He is there with you {always}
He is the light when darkness closes in.

to my girls,
in this hurt.  through this pain.
stand strong. stand side by side.
encourage one another.
your God is greater & stronger than all else on this earth.
run into His arms.
the riches of His love will always be enough for you.

i love you.

.the {ultimate} injury.

One year ago today I was at {coolidge park} on a beautiful February day.
It was so nice and warm out.  Perfect for a day of ultimate frisbee at the park.
There was a clear blue sky, birds were singing, and the sun was shining.
I was perfectly content.

We were there specifically to play ultimate frisbee.
And I love ultimate frisbee.
However, somehow I seem to hurt myself occasionally.
And by ::I hurt myself::  I mean ::a boy runs into me:: or ::tackles me::
It's great fun.

So on this day, we were in the middle of a game.
I think my team had the frisbee...but I'm not sure.
It's all a blur.
Whatever.  Someone had the frisbee.
I started running, and as I did, this guy turns around to run down the field.
That's when it hit me...or he hit me.
Let me just make this clear.  He wasn't even running yet.
He had simply turned around, and put his head down.
So his head rammed into my face.  I heard a strange popping noise.
I fell to the ground with the grace of a princess.
Who am I kidding.  I'm one of the most ungraceful people I know.
So I toppled to the ground.
Everything went black and all I knew was my face hurt.

He quickly picked me up and helped me walk to the side of the field.
Next thing I knew he was saying:
"Oh man. You're bleeding.  Your face is really bleeding.  Blood is on your shirt."
I said:
"WHAT?  I am? What's bleeding?  Oh that's ok.  It'll come out in the wash."
I'm so cool in these situations.

All this time my best friend {nat} was sitting on a picnic blanket and enjoying the sunshine....completely oblivious to my current state of pain.  Don't worry.  As soon as she realized I was injured, she ran to my rescue.

They took me to the other side of the park to sit down, get some water, and rinse off my face.  A nurse {who was conveniently there with us} took a look at my face and said my nose was not broken....a lot of help that one was.

Did I go to the hospital? The doctor?  Home?
No way, sister.
I stayed at the park for the rest of the day.
Looking like this...

Attractive. I know.
I called my parents to let them know I'd gotten hurt, but that my nose wasn't broken.  Or so I thought.  When I got home, a doctor friend came over to see if I needed stitches.  His conclusion?:: "no stitches megan, but your nose is broken."
I spent the next week going to the doctor and getting ready for surgery.
Surgery came along the week before spring break, and like most things in my life, didn't go as planned.  I'm not sure how my doctor expected me to be able to go back to class the next day when the medication he prescribed for me said "NO DRIVING."  So I spent that entire week before spring break laying/sleeping on the couch, watching movies, and eating saltines crackers.
We are talking a week without a shower people.
I had a beautiful pink brace on my nose, which was covered in medical tape.
There is a picture I sent to Nat during this week...which will not be seen here.
I'm pretty sure I was on major drugs when I sent it, because no way on earth would I have exposed that face to the public in my right mind.
It looked something like this....

Scary beyond all reason.

Needless to say after this experience, my parents "banned" me from frisbee until I was on my own medical insurance.  Like that actually happened.  If you can believe it, I was back at the park the day after the incident.  I don't let a broken nose get in my way of enjoying a beautiful day at the park.

Memories of my broken nose, you won't get me down.  So I'm going to go celebrate this one year anniversary by going to the park with my bffls to throw the frisbee.  I'll let y'all know if I end up in the emergency room again.

.dear to my heart.

I absolutely LOVE this movie.  And I was thinking about it today because I was thinking about Knoxville, and the last time I was in Knoxville, Nat and I saw this movie. {how's that for a run on sentence?}  This is just another example of how I can trace back what may seem as extremely random thoughts.
It happens all the time.
I'm an incredibly random person.
Sorry.  Too much excitement.

I bought this song off itunes and played it over and over and over.
And it may happen to come on my ipod tomorrow on my drive to {knoxville}
Just maybe.

Tomorrow I'm traveling to the land of orange for a weekend with my {bffls}
So excited!  Overjoyed!  A whole weekend!
We haven't all been together since last October.
Whaaaat??  I know.  I'm shocked too.
Come to think of it, the 5 of us have never been together all at once.
Cray. Cray.
I'm going to enjoy the drive with beautiful 65 degree weather.
The windows down.
The music up.
Singin' my little heart out.
Because that's how I roll.

This weekend is going to be ah-mazing.
.time with my sisters. people dear to my heart.
.laughing til it hurts.
.maybe some tears {who knows. it's a bunch of girls, y'all}.
.lots of picture taking.
.lots of story telling.
.hugs galore. {get ready, A}
.music music music.
.good times had by all.
.i could go for another weekend like {this}.

Hope y'all have a fantastic Friday!
Today tell someone you love them.
And give them a hug.
People need hugs.
Over and out.

.homemade pizza.

Okay. Okay. Okay.
I'm super excited because this is my first cooking blog post.
We'll call it Cooking with Meg.
For now. Because I need to come up with something more creative.
Just for your information, cooking + me = an adventure.
You never know what's going to happen.
And after this experience, I realized I really really need to work on my food photography skills.  Plus photography makes cooking even more fun.

Alright y'all.  Here we go.
Let me introduce to you the simple yet scrumptious :: McIlvaine family pizza.
It's my fav.  And homemade pizza is 100x better than anything else.

First off.  The pizza sauce.
It's SO easy to make.

Prep time: 10 minutes.

You'll need::

1 8oz. can of tomato sauce
1 6oz. can of tomato paste
1/2 cup of ketchup
{I use the Hunts brand for these}

Then you'll need these::

1 tsp. of basil
1 tsp. of oregano
1/4 tsp. of garlic powder
1/8 tsp. of pepper

Now that's what the recipe calls for, but who follows a recipe these days??
I just add ingredients until it tastes delicious.
And I'm telling you..this pizza sauce is yummy.
 Laney calls this her "dainty stir".

I could just sit there and eat it out of the bowl.
Does that make me weird?  Maybe.  Most likely. Moving on.

So now you're done with the first step.
On to the pizza making.
You'll want a medium sized mixing bowl.

1 cup of regular flour
3/4 cup of whole wheat flour
{we try to be 3/4 healthy in this house}
1 tablespoon of yeast {rapid rise yeast is best to use}
{or if you are using packets, you'll just need one}

Put these ingredients in your mixing bowl.

Then warm 3/4 cup of water for 50ish seconds in the handy dandy microwave.

Add the water to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Then knead the dough until it is not too sticky.

Once you have finished kneading the dough, set a towel over the mixing bowl.
Let the dough rise for 30-40 minutes.
{it should almost double in size}
You could go ahead and preheat the oven to 425 degrees at this point.

Then get out your baking sheet.  Round. Square. Rectangular.  It doesn't matter.
Coat it with a little vegetable oil or olive oil so the dough won't stick to it.
Then spread the dough on the pan like so::

Throw it in the oven and bake for 7 minutes.
 Take it out of the oven.
 Spread on the pizza sauce.
{you will use about 1/2 cup of sauce. freeze the rest for later}

Then it's time for the toppings!!
I'm a cheese, pepperoni, and mushroom girl.
No extra silliness for me. Thank you.

 Once you have added all the toppings you desire, toss the pizza back in the oven for 7 more minutes.

Take your finished pizza out of the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
Then slice and serve.

.{my} God.

Sunday night I was at a Shane & Shane concert.
They played some of their own songs first.
They were completely hilarious...as usual.
And then we had a time of total worship.
S&S had the lights turned off so the spotlight wasn't on them.

A few songs in they started playing {our God} by Chris Tomlin.
I cannot tell you how much I love this song.
I heard it for the first time this summer in {texas}
Could hardly keep from bursting into tears.
Don't worry.  I didn't.
I was in the car with my host parents and didn't want to freak them out.

Back to Sunday night.
This song gets me PUMPED UP.
I felt like laughing, crying, and jumping up and down all at once.

In my moments of doubt, I remember this song.
When I don't have a clue what is going on.
Or where my life is going.
What my purpose is.
I am reminded my Father has {everything. i mean EVERYTHING} under control.
I don't need to know what the future holds.
All I need to know is that He will be there with me.
Every step of the way.
More and more I am learning to trust Him.
It is such a freeing experience.
Completely relying on the Lord.

My God is greater.
My God is stronger.
He is higher than any other.
He is healer.
Awesome in power.
My God.
If He is for me, who could ever stop me?
If my God is with me, what could stand against?

Nothing.  Absolutely nothing.

So I will go forth and shine for Him.
Wherever my path may lead.

Hey y'all.
How was your valentine's?
No really.  I want to hear about it!

Mine was pretty uneventful.
But I was blessed with an absolutely gorgeous day outside & I sit by a window at work so I was able to enjoy the sunshine.

Other highlights of my day?
1. Nat left me a hilarious voicemail & I laughed out loud listening to it at work.

2. I got to talk to dear Elisa on the phone for a bit tonight.
     SO excited to see these girls plus J & A this weekend!

This last bit was the icing on the cake for my day.
So adorable.
I could not stop smiling while reading and listening to this.
And I really wish someone would write me a song.
That would be absolutely lovely.
Like really really.
I might die of happiness.

{check it out}

.{love} letters.

I would just like to say that I enjoyed every moment of making these cards.
Encouraging notes are so fun to give.
It brings me joy.

You see all the glitter there on Nat's card?
Yes. Well see she loves sparkly things.
Just like Taylor Swift.
Holy cow is right.
You can see more of her card {here}

Love letters to my bffls.
Best valentine's project. ever.

.the {best} day.

I had more fun this weekend than I've had in a while.
Why, you ask?
Because Laney came for a sleepover & sister time!

Saturday started off with a quick stop at Starbucks.
We love our Starbucks.

Of course it was all gone by the time this picture was taken.
We had errands to run, and you can't run errands without Starbucks.
Or at least you shouldn't.
So we headed to Walmart.
Note: I do not like Walmart.
Target is my happy place.
But for this instance I made a sacrifice in order to get ice cream.
And How To Train Your Dragon silly bands.
::Those were a last minute decision::

Then it was back to the house to make homemade pizza.
::because "pizza's delicious!!"::
Let's hear it for homemade pizza!
::there will be a post all about it soon. a cooking blog. oh boy!::
After eating our scrumptious pizza, we made cards for a good 3 hours.
Best 3 hours of my night.
I love making crafts with best friends.  It's less lonely.
And we listened to my {valentine's playlist}

To end the night we watched {leap year}
A perfect valentine's weekend movie.
Sigh.  And it's in Ireland.
And there are great accents.
I'm all about a good accent.

Sunday morning came around to show it's beautiful, sunny face.
It was GORGEOUS outside today!
After lunch with the fam, Laney and I headed to the park to take pictures.
We love pictures.  The End.

 so cute.

 supah windy.

And then Laney started ignoring me.
When this happens I know it's time for a Sweet Cece's run.
She needs fro yo.

Mmmmm. Delicious.
You may think that was all to our day.
But no.
How can this day get better, you ask?
Well let me tell you.  Free concert!
Shane & Shane were doing a free concert up at Lee University where Laney is going to school.  So we went.  And it was awesome and worshipful.
Seriously.  The perfect ending to our wonderful day.

I had the best day with you today.

.tell it again.

Here's a little happy song for your Saturday.
Brought to you by the one and only JJ Heller.
Annnd you should check out {more} of her music!

And I'm off to pick up my sister {laney}.
Hooray for girls night and sleepovers!

Do not fear.
There will be pictures of our adventures.

Y'all have a delightful Saturday now, ya hear?

.you are strong enough.

I'm sitting here in my blue room with my
twinkly lights on & snuggled under
big bird ::my fluffy yellow blanket::
and listening to this song.

I want to set the world on fire.
How do I do that?
How can I ::little old me:: be that important?
How can I make a difference?
How will You use me?

I am weak but my God is strong enough.
There is {nothing} I cannot do.
There is {no one} like my God.
His plans are greater than I can even imagine.
He knows my dreams.
He knows my heart's desires.
He is for me.
He is on my side.
"If our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what could stand against?"
-chris tomlin::our God-
I have been give so many promises like these.
There is no reason to fear.
Jesus is with me {every} step of the way.
He has great plans for me.
Plans to give me a hope and a future.

My life. My love.
Lord, use me.

.roses are red.

I got home from work tonight to find roses from my dad.
Beautiful red roses.

A little pre-valentine's day gift.
Perfect for sitting on my nightstand.
Like Jodie's grandmother always says::
"there should be a splash of red in every room."
I completely agree.

Thanks for my roses, daddy.

.you belong with me.

The Annex is a college ministry in Boulder, CO.
They are in the same network as the college ministry I went to.
Ya know.  Back in the day when I was a college student.
Sooooo long ago.
Anyway. I think the videos they create are hilarious.
Like {this one}

For those of you who love Taylor Swift,
or people who sing her songs,
or funny/awkward moments in general,
this is for you.

.cowboy country.

I miss Texas.
I miss my host family.
I miss the grandkids.
These absolutely precious kids.

I miss london boy.
aka:: gypsy man.
aka:: josh.
I miss being called random british words I don't understand.
It was entertaining for sure.
Texas was a very diverse cultural experience...

Awkward photoshoots are the best.
Hahahahaha. Oh man.
What a day.

I miss downtown San Antonio.
The Alamo.
The river walk.

I miss that big Texas pride people have for their state.
However, I always kept them in their place by reminding them that it was Davy Crockett from TENNESSEE who brought volunteers to the Alamo.
Thank goodness for Tennessee.

I miss Texas bar-b-que.
And cowboy towns.

The cowboy store :: where you go to get your cowboy.
So convenient.
We have something similar ::but not as awesome:: in Tennessee.
The Men's Warehouse :: where you go to find your man.

I do NOT miss these creepy creatures.
I am certain they were a result of the Fall.

I miss Texas thistles and flowers.

And I miss car rides to nowhere in particular with best friends who come to visit.

Texas, I miss you.
