.contemplation {and} celebration.

tomorrow is april 1st.
holy cow.
this year is seriously flying.
and it's {48 days} until colorado.

but for something coming up a little sooner.
passion city church has had a {good friday} service for the past few years now.
i've never actually been able to go, but always wanted to.
my girl, alison {core group}, texted me today to see if i wanted to go with her.
so fun. {thanks al pal}
so we are going.
and maybe abbey too.
i'm excited to be able to spend some extra time with some of my core group girls.
and to take the time to {contemplate} and {celebrate} easter's events.
the death and resurrection of our Lord.
can't wait for this evening of worship.

the line up?
louie giglio, chris tomlin, christy nockels and kristian stanfill.
it will be fantastic.
wanna go?

check out {the website} for tickets and other info.

"why do you seek the living among the dead? he is not here, but has risen."
{luke 24:5}

.it {brightens} my day.

because laughter truly is the best medicine
and because i love seeing other people laugh,
i had to share this with you today.
it's seriously one of my favorite {baby laughing} videos.

laughter is such a powerful thing.
like {boo} from monster's inc.
yes. i love pixar.
why do you ask?

a good laugh can completely make my day.
and this definitely just did.

.spring has sprung.

spring is here!
it brought a wave of warmth for a few days.
and now it's back to cold weather.
and lots of rain.
come on, march.
{april} showers bring may flowers.

no matter the weather, it's been nice to watch nature blossom.

i love the newness of spring.
it's like the earth is coming back to life.
all the trees and flowers in bloom.
so natural. so effortless.

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor
was dressed like one of these."
{luke 12:27}

.week{end} update.

howdy strangers.
oh wait.
i've been the stranger.
i'm so sorry.
it's been far too long.
here are some highlights from my week{end}.

a. spending an abundance of quality time with my sister, laney.
we had a slumber party at my grandparent's house, which means i got to spend time with them too! bonus.  we watched movies {john wayne included. of course.}, laughed til we couldn't breathe {no joke}, made friendship bracelets {yes we did}, shared secrets, talked about boys, life, and colorado.

b. babysitting.
i babysat for a new{ish} family saturday night. temple had come over to hang out with evie and connor a few times before when i was taking care of them, so we had met.  temple and i played with crafts, evie came over for a bit, we watched the little mermaid, and temple told me how she really felt.  keep in mind she's 3.

"miss megan?"
"yes temple?"
"the first time i met you, i thought you might be really mean, but now i can say i really love you. you're not mean at all."

reason number 4,892 why i love kids.  completely honest about their feelings.

before she went to bed, we had to go outside and look at the moon. did y'all see how amazing the moon has been the past few nights? saturday night it was supposed to be the "super" moon. so we went out on the front porch to look at the moon.  i asked temple what the moon looked like right then and she said,
"it's so bright. it looks like it's made of stars." adorable.
c. ultimate frisbee.
it had been a while since i played a good game.  especially after {this} happened.
plus i wouldn't have gone had it not been for laney. it was her suggestion.  so i picked her up, and we went to get our frisbee on y'all.  laney is a beast when it comes to this game. she's a super star and has officially taken my place on the ultimate field. {it's ok laney. i still love you.}
we arrived, we played, we got sunburnt, and we were sore.
annnnd we were sore.
did i say that already? sorry.

d. colorado in {56 days}

.unanswered prayers.

my heart is breaking.
the hearts of people i love are breaking.
i'm reading a book by beth moore,
and a line i read this week has really stayed with me.
"He knows it's scary to be us."
i have to constantly remind myself that my Jesus has me in His hands.
He knows exactly what is going on.
even when i doubt Him, He carries me through each day.
i know He will not give me more than i can handle,
but Lord, how much longer must this go on?
that is one unanswered prayer.
still i will trust You.
our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
for our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
let your steadfast love, o Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.
psalm 33:20-22

.{absolutely} ridiculous.

you were my first love.
we had a rough few months there sophomore year...
when i didn't come see you for quite some time.
but all that is behind us now.
so bring on the waffle fries and polynesian sauce.
{but not too often. i have to watch my girlish figure}

i wish i had more to say,
but words fail me.
so this is for you.

.i thought my {oh} my.

while sitting on the back porch having a phone date with bethany, i got sunburnt.
in march.
i mean i'm not going to lie.
my pasty porcelain skin does need some sun.
i just don't think to put sunscreen on during the month of march.
absolutely ridiculous.

after seeing said sunburn, i decided sitting outside any longer was a bad idea.
so i went for a drive.
this is becoming a {favorite} past time of mine.
no. i shouldn't be doing this with gas prices the way they are.
but beautiful afternoon drives are therapeutic i think.
windows down, music loud, singing at the top of my lungs.
totally free for a few moments in time.
just me, braveheart {my car}, and country roads.

buckle up for safety bear.
he has been my constant driving companion since high school.

oh westview.
the elementary school where i went to kindergarten.
back in the day.

i will be in colorado in exactly 65 days.
but who's counting?

.pretty pretty princess.

it's about time i gave y'all a little peek at the pictures from evangeline's party.
the party was princess themed {of course}
there were 12ish little girls all dressed up in their finest princess attire.
they were all completely adorable.

so here are my top 5 favorite moments from the party:
one: coloring. {i love coloring. i will color no matter how old i am}
two: pin the heart on the necklace. {yes. same as pin the tale on the donkey}
three: the girls trying to eat gigi's cupcakes. {they have 2 inches of icing}
four: one little girl who kept saying "do you wike my hair? it's fwench bwaided."
five: the piƱata. {watching those little girls go after it was cracking me up}

i had so much fun being at your 5th birthday party!
next time i promise to bring my tiara.

.once upon a time.

last night i got to hang out with {my kids}
we played freeze tag {which is their new favorite game.}
connor has figured out that if he goes the opposite way around the kitchen,
he can catch me on the other side.
smart kid.
i have been his babysitter since he was 2 weeks old.
and now he is 3.

{excuse me while i go & sing songs about neverland & children never growing up}
and then, of course, we had tickle fights.
i am the tickle monster.
evie always eggs it on with the
"i bet you can't tickle me" line.
evie decided the winner of freeze tag and tickle fights got to tell a story.
somehow they made me the winner, so i was first.
they sat in complete awe of my terrible storytelling skills.
the story went something like this::
once upon a time in a faraway land,
{or in "the old kingdom" as evie calls it}
there lived a prince and a princess.
{they were brother and sister. duh.}
and their names were prince connor and princess evie.
{the best way to keep your young listeners involved is to put them in the story}
so the story went on like any fairytale.
there were talking animals, scary trolls, pirates, treasure, and crazy adventures.
and they lived happily ever after.

now one story just wasn't enough.
evie had to tell her story about "the old kingdom".
she was absolutely hilarious.
i think we will be telling stories more often.
i love seeing them use their imaginations like that.
connor told his story, which lasted about two minutes.
we couldn't understand a word he said because he was laughing the whole time.
it was pretty much the cutest thing ever.
then it was movie time.
what did we watch?
toy story 3.
filled with their favorite movie characters.

that was my friday night.
i loved it.

have i ever told y'all how much i love the pixar movie {UP}?
well i do.  i love it.
nat and i quote it all the time.
i won't even tell you how many times i saw it in the theater
{don't worry. it was mostly dollar movie nights at the cheap theater}
or how many times i've watched it since i bought it on dvd.
that movie makes me laugh
{like laugh so much i can't breathe}
and it makes me cry.
it deals with real life.
i love the innocence.
the adventure.
the wonder.
needless to say,
when a friend showed {this} to me a couple days ago,
i got just a tad excited.
it pretty much made my day.
{thanks pegs}
oh but reading about this ah-mazing house just isn't enough.
check out this video.
pure awesomeness.
"and someday i'm going to south america. it's like america, but SOUTH."

.one day you will.

because it's been raining and flooding for the past 3 days,
and because i really want to see the sunshine again,
and because i like this song,
and because i've been slacking on the blog front lately,
here ya go.

.the {dominican} republic.

this is abbey.
one of the beautiful girls in my core group.
i stole your pictures, abs.
hope you don't mind. :)
she is leaving for the {d.r.} on thursday morning
with a team of 60 something people from The House.
{the campus ministry i was involved with in college}
i'm so proud of her & thankful for her desire to serve her Lord in this way.
working to serve His Kingdom.
if the Lord puts it on your heart this week,
please pray for her, the rest of the team, and the beautiful people they will meet.
it is our job, the ones who are home, to be their prayer warriors.
i love you, abbey!
have a wonderful trip.
don't forget your letters. :)

.oh my good{knees}.

oh my life.
little did i know my new job would kill me.
okay. that's a tad dramatic.
let me preface this story with this little piece of information:
i love my new job.  i am learning so much.
alright. now that's been said. let's move on.
yesterday at work, we had a photoshoot in the studio.
photographing rugs.
and my job was to brush all the rugs.
you heard me. brush them.
rugs have got to have their hairs did too.
so i'd brush them and vacuum them.
{cue photographer. take the shot.}
brush some more.
roll 'em up and throw 'em in a pile.

so i was on my hands and knees this whole time.
on a concrete floor.
i didn't think a thing about it.
until about an hour later when it hurt to bend my knees.
this is what happens when you get old, folks.
needless to say, my knees are really bruised.
and to add to my pain and suffering,
i decided i still needed to work out yesterday and today.
now i can't walk.
oh my good{knees}.
it's pathetic.
so i'm taking the day off from exercise tomorrow,
and doing my first photo shoot at a birthday party!
{eeeeeek. so excited/nervous}
i'll let y'all know how it goes.

.did you just {squeak}.

let me tell you why i was 5 minutes late for work this morning.
two words.
kamikaze squirrel.
i mean WHAT goes on in their tiny brains?
back and forth & back and forth across the road.
squirrels make me feel like my indecisiveness is minuscule compared to theirs.
so i see this little guy {trying} to cross the road.
it's tough coming out of hibernation.
completely disorienting.

bless its heart.
i slow down thinking it will be gone by the time i get to that spot.
but oh no.  he's still freaking out.
so i have to come to a complete stop.
yes. i stop for squirrels.
and most other animals.
i accidentally ran over a squirrel one time and it was traumatic.
i've been in therapy ever since.
ok not really.
back to the story.

i think it took this poor squirrel a minute to decide where to go.
once he decided to go back to the side of the road where he started,
he turned around, waved and {squeaked} "see ya later, alligator."
i know this because i speak squirrel.
pretty impressive, i know.
kronk taught me how.

.{concerning} lions.

so {remember} this?
that band, concerning lions?
3/5 chattanooga. 2/5 nashville.

note::i did not take this picture.
it is courtesy of facebook.
thank you, facebook.
and whoever took this shot.

remember how i told you their new cd would be out soon?
well. it's finally here.
the wait is over, folks.
click {this} to go buy the album.
go ahead.
click the link.
it won't kill ya.
annnd enjoy the music.
please don't stop the music.
music. music.

.in {christ} alone.

so you've heard of the band {owl city}
or maybe you haven't.
well the lead singer is adam young.
remember {this}
along with being enchanted to meet t. swift,
i think this guy has a heart for the Lord.

take a look at this {blog} post from back in october.
i love the tenderness of his heart when talking about this song.
{in christ alone} is one of my favorites.
and his version of this song is also my new favorite.
so simple. so raw. so real.
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
absolutely nothing can pluck you from the hand of God.
He holds you always.
let your hope only be found in Him.
