As most of you know, I am pretty much obsessed with snail mail. I love sending and receiving it. Part of the fun is picking out cute cards I know my friends will love to find in their mailboxes! One of my favorite things is to find new shops where I can hunt down that perfect card or set of stationary. I recently discovered Yellow Umbrella Stationary, which has cute wedding and custom stationary options!

Let me give you a little glimpse of Britt who is the woman, the creative, and the designer behind Yellow Umbrella. I wanted you to hear a part of her story because I think the pursuit of art is so beautiful.

"Design for me has never been something I have done, it has been a lifestyle.  I can remember at a very young age creating artwork with just a few colors of chalk over any concrete surface around, only to wait for the rain to come to wash it away so that I could start creating once again.  As I grew older I began doodling on any piece of paper put in front of me.  Not only that, but I fell in love with paper and the art of notes.  Isn't it such a great feeling to receive a handwritten note in the mail? I spent the majority of my young adult life focusing on becoming an elementary teacher, and then later counseling middle and high school students.  It was such a rewarding time in my life but I was missing something...design. They say you should make your interests you career, well that is exactly what I did.  I began freelancing under the name of Yellow Umbrella and later opened up my first Etsy Shop.  I am now focusing on stationery and operating under Yellow Umbrella Stationery.  We want every person to realize they can afford and use great design in their everyday life as well as special occasions."

I think the "Bonjour" cards from Yellow Umbrella might be my favorite. Mostly because I've never been to Paris, but it just looks magical, and I'd love to go some day. For now, I can just stare at these cards and keep on dreaming. :)

Today, I am giving away a $30 credit to Yellow Umbrella, so you can pick out your own piece of Paris, or other cards that catch your eye. As a special gift to you, Yellow Umbrella is offering 40% off all products to my readers until the end of November! Use code: RIVERS&ROADS

HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO WIN! This giveaway is run via Rafflecopter with several ways to enter! In exactly one week the giveaway will close, one winner will be selected at random and announced! The winner will be contacted by email. All entries will be verified, so please play by the rules! Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

When out on an adventure, I love a good panoramic view just as much as anyone else, but it is the details we so often miss. I try my best to take note of those wherever I am. I think we all too often overlook the smaller beauties of the world in our search for something grander, when in fact, the beauty is in the details.

While I was at the Renew Retreat, we walked up the road from our cabin to an empty lot to do a little photo shoot with everyone. The lot is a beautiful empty field right now filled with the glories of nature, but one day the grasses will be cut down and the flowers trampled over without a second thought so that a cabin may be built there. Life is short and beauty will fade, so don't miss the opportunities you have to soak up the creation around you today!

Oh boy, do I have some great news for your Wednesday. The 2nd annual Great Christmas Exchange has begun! Christmas? Before Thanksgiving? Well, yes, because there is this concept called planning, where things must be done ahead of time. ;) Beth and Samantha hosted their first christmas exchange last year and I had so much fun participating!

I love swaps and I love Christmas, so this is a great one for me! The idea of meeting new friends and making their day in the process with some thoughtful gifts sent by snail mail just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You too? Great! Head over to either Beth's or Samantha's blogs to sign up for the Christmas exchange! Let the Christmas cheer begin!

Beth and Samantha wanted to help pay for someone's participation and also pitch in to help with all their other holiday shopping! So they have joined in with several other bloggy besties (including me!) who are participating in the campaign to give you the chance to walk away with $125 in PayPal cash! It is easy: just sign up for the exchange and then use the rafflecopter below!

Just this month I introduced a new series with two of my dear friends, Beth and Sam. We are so excited for the potential of this project, and we are so excited for you to join in on the fun! TriStyle & CO. is a collaboration between Samantha of Elah Tree, Elizabeth of Oak + Oats,  and me (Meg of Rivers and Roads!) Our goal is to encourage, awaken, and celebrate the inherent beauty in each one of us as we live in community. Community is a beautiful buzz word and we LOVE the idea of it but even more than loving the idea, we love bringing it! TriStyle & CO. is just that; a place for community and belonging.

I've got 5 great reasons for you to join TriStlye & Co.!

Like I said, community is all the rage these days. We are all seeking it, and TriStyle is a great place to find it.  We have created a Google+ community for you to join if you like! Share posts, pins, and giveaways to your heart's content! Make new friends! That space will be a perfect place for you to network with other bloggers and cultivate new relationships!

If you're like me, you almost never use Google+...that is until a couple of months ago. I have discovered that I love Google+ so much more than Facebook. I feel like it's more interactive for blogging purposes and it's easier to navigate/follow along! It has so much untapped potential that I am just now discovering.

Okay, so this one applies if you're participating in our monthly TriStlye & Co. challenges. We will be featuring an item from different shops each month, each of us will style it differently, and then you have the opportunity to purchase that same item and show us how YOU style it! It's like we all went shopping together and bought the same thing. How cute is that? #besties

So you're here because you are a blogger, or you want to be, or you are a shop owner, a mother, a sister, a friend. Whatever it is, we are all in this together, and if you need a place to ask questions, learn, share stories, and be invested in, the TriStyle community is that place for you.

You don't have to pay anything to join, so you've got nothing to lose! It's a win-win situation for ya! All good things. All good things.

1 | Etsy Swap Link Up. You guys blew this Etsy swap out of the water. Thank you for being so generous and thoughtful in your gift giving! Amy and I love hosting that swap, supporting small businesses and making new friends in the process. We already can't wait for next spring!

2 | Lunchtime walks. There is a park near where I work, and sometimes I head over there during my lunch break to get in a walk. I sit all day at my job (which is terrible for you!), so I try to get in as many walks as I can. Plus, the weather is perfect for being outside this time of year. Annnnnd, there are super pretty leaves to collect! :)

3 | Autumn crafts. My core group and I always do a fall-inspired craft night each year, and this year we did pumpkin painting! Mine is still a work in progress since the first coat of paint wouldn't dry before I had to head home. Ha! A craft to be completed another day.

4 | Rend Collective. I got to go to one of their concerts last night!! Ahhhhh! It was so fun! Confetti, bubbles, and giant beach balls were present. I don't know that I've ever been to a concert that exuded so much joy. :) Plus, they are Irish. The accents are great.

The Influence Conference Giveaway

Brave hearts! I have such a fun giveaway for you today. I've joined a group of amazing ladies who are giving away...wait for it...TWO tickets to the 2015 Influence Conference! Say whaaaaat? I know. I am just as excited as you are. When the Influence Conference was going on last month, I kept checking the conference hashtag so I could keep up with all of the happenings. I wished I was there, meeting new friends and learning from amazing speakers.

It is definitely on my wishlist to go to the conference next year, and now you have an opportunity to attend as well! Don't pass this one up. Since having attended two events this fall where I got to meet and network with those I had only ever known via the internet, I am a huge supporter of going to events like these. Nothing beats learning, growing, and hanging out with your friends in person! :)

TWO lucky readers will win a ticket to the 2015 Influence Conference. The conference is a three day event held in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Westin Hotel. You will meet women from all over the country who are seeking to learn the right tools for their passions. There will be workshops, classes, speakers, coffee, & shopping. There will be bloggers, mothers, small business owners, writers, and the list goes on & on.

It's up to you! Now, go enter the giveaway! Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.

The two recipients will only receive tickets to the event & are responsible for ALL other expenses, including but not limited to travel, lodging, meals, parking, etc. If for some reason either of the winners cannot attend the conference they will be expected to contact one of the hosts immediately so that another winner can be chosen.

Hey lovelies. Today I get to introduce you to Cassie of Kent Heartstrings. She has a precious blog and an even more precious family. After you're done getting to know Cassie, you should check out some of her wonderful posts! I love these Anthropologie inspired confetti glasses and this unique DIY succulent holder. I am wanting to put some pretty succulents in my room as part of the re-design, and I only wish I had room for a whole pallet! Without further ado, here's Cassie!

What is your favorite part about blogging?
I love the community. There are so many people to meet, interact with, build a relationship with and support. Its a beautiful, unique and wonderful community. I really do not know what I enjoy more, blogging on my blog or reading other people's. I am just honored to I get to be a part of it all.

What fun things do you have on your Autumn bucket list?
Apple Picking. We live about an hour away from a small town that has several apple orchards nearby, we hope to head up there before the season is over! Gosh and just enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, its finally cooling off enough to be outside, and that makes me so happy!

Favorite fall-themed dessert?
Pumpkin Pie. Its a classic, but its my favorite! With fresh whipped cream! Yum!

What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I love being crafty. You can find me tinkering on many different things. When I am out and about, I look at stuff all the time and think, "I can make that"...so I always have 5 projects going on simultaneously.

I love hosting too, parties are so much fun! I love all the little details that go into an event that really make it stand out, and makes you feel special.  Good thing I host Kreative- a craft night for women every month, because it blends both of my favorite hobbies...Creating and Hosting!

and then....I blog about it ;)

Current favorite song/band?
T.Swift Shake it off. I mean it has a everything- catchy lyrics, toe tapping beat and a great message. It just makes me happy, and our whole family happy, every time it comes on its s dance party in the car.

What are you crushing on this month?
Boots. All kinds. Riding boots, Ugg boots, Hunter Boots, Booties....Love, love love. Maybe I am crushing on them so hard because the weather here in CA is still in the 80s, so I just look longing at my boots.

That's all, folks! Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday. :) XOXO.

Happy link-up day, friends! Amy and I have had a blast with this swap, and we are so thankful for all of you who signed up and participated! I hope you had fun shopping, found some new favorite Etsy shops, and made new friends in this community. There are some real gems out there!

Now on to the fun part! I finally get to show you everything I gave and received! Snail mail is one of my love languages, so getting to send thoughtful gifts and receive thoughtful gifts in the mail kind of makes my day...or my week.

I was assigned Laura of According to Laura Jean, and I had so much fun shopping for her! Fun fact: earlier this year, we found out that Laura knows my little sister Mer who is getting married in a few short months! The world is seriously small. Anyway, Laura loves a mix of nature, feminine style, and outdoorsy things, so I put together an eclectic box for her that hopefully she enjoys!

My Etsy goodies came from Jenna of Dearest Love. Fun fact: I actually know Jenna in real life!  We got to go to the Maiedae Mixer together as well as the Renew Retreat. I love becoming real life friends with my blogger friends! If you don't know Jenna, you should take care of that ASAP. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is so kind and thoughtful and an incredible baker. She made the most scrumptious nutella bread while I was staying at her house for the Mixer. Yum. I still dream about that goodness.

Jenna picked out some of the cutest post cards from one of my favorite etsy shops! See, I told you she was thoughtful. :) Check out what all she sent me! Thanks, Jenna! :)

I just spent a beautiful weekend in the magical Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with a bunch a women I had never met in real life. Ha! It was so wonderful getting to finally meet friends who I had only ever known via blogs and email.

It was refreshing to sit on the spacious porch, rock in a rocking chair, spend time in the Word, share stories with new friends, and gaze out at the mountains. The trees are just starting to turn, some more than others. I especially love when the leaves have completely changed and the world is on fire with brilliants reds and oranges and yellows, but this part of the season has it's own beauty as some trees change and others hold on tightly to their green foliage. It creates a great contrast of colors. The change is more apparent as you drive through the national forest under the canopy of the trees. I highly suggest taking a trip to see it. :)

We had such a great time hanging out at the cabin, getting to know each other, eating delicious food, shopping in Gatlinburg, and taking a million pictures. You can send emails, like instagram photos, and leave comments, but nothing beats spending time together in person. The stories of you and me come alive when we sit down to have real conversations. I loved getting to hear parts of stories I'd never heard before and sharing struggles and hopes and dreams with one another. That is where true friendship begins.

I'm so thankful to have met the people I know through blogging, and I love that I've been given opportunities to meet those brave hearts in real life as well. Can't wait for more get togethers in the future! Stay tuned for more goodness about our weekend in the mountains! XOXO.
